It is not hard to see that the shape of these small boxes are derived from the most recent sweets craze in Japan: the macaroon. The Echizen design team noticed how well its recognizable shape would work in a combination of wood and lacquer. Macaroon comes in two types of finishes: thinly coated lacquer to reveal the underlying wood grain, or covered in a textured surface resembling stone. Available in 5 different colours.
